The restoration of the church tower 2006-2007

The scaffolding on the tower has already gone and the works completed, including the reciting of the clock. Due to lack of funds, the only items of work not to have been carried out were the north aisle gable end and soakaways. These will be a project for a later date. We are now left with the big cleanup! Not only have we got to clean the inside of the tower from top to bottom, we also have to carry out a complete spring-clean of the church. I hope those who can will don their overalls and mask and join us on a day(s) yet to be arranged. The more of us there are the quicker we will get the job done. As an incentive, tea and cakes will be provided along with pleasant banter!

Thank you all for your support and hard work during the past six years in raising funds for the project. If my calculations are correct, we only have a deficit on the £264,000.00 bill of £8,000.00. Fund raising is still ongoing to help pay back this figure to the Diocese, it being an interest free loan.

Fr. Peter
