What is Kids Zone Club?
During 2009 there were various meetings set up by Rev Beverley Hunt of St. Paul’s for local ministers and other interested parties from East and West Molesey to discuss the issue of our young people. Despite there being a youth centre on Ray Road that catered for 13 year olds and upwards it was noted there was nothing for youngsters under that age, a number of which were aimlessly hanging around outside the youth club and the local shops causing a nuisance and in some cases getting into trouble.
The outcome of our meetings resulted in the three Anglican churches in Molesey setting up an arrangement with the youth centre on Ray Road to run a club for the 11-13 year age group., using free of charge their facilities and using leaders from our three churches.
The club has been running now for two months on Tuesday evenings between 5-6.45 p.m. At present there are over 50 members with a weekly average attendance of 20. The club is run by the clergy and lay helpers on a rota system. I am pleased to say that Anthony, Glynn and his wife Sue represent St. Peter’s, but we are always happy to welcome new helpers to the team.
